The Japanese Are Coming!!!

Well, they've come! Sushi has finally arrived in Gstaad! About time already! We got the above menu in the mail about a couple of weeks ago and you can imagine my excitement! I don't have to take a 2 hour train ride down to the valley to get some of that Japanese goodness any more! Now, it's right under my nose! And since it's in the Grand Hotel, I'm sure it's top quality!

I will be checking it out very soon! I know, I know, shame on me for not going straight away the day I got this in the mail, but you have to realize, it was Christmas time: running around, shopping, decorating the tree and the house, dinners with family. Then New Year's, need I say more! So now that things are finally getting back to their normal rhythm again, it's sushi time Gstaad style!!!

Sounds yummy! With Switzerland being landlocked, is seafood popular over there?

nope! not at all! and Swiss people are not big on it either! i haven't met a Swiss person yet who said they liked seafood! it's not offered in many restaurants and the selection in the supermarket is dire. of course, in the big cities, like Zurich, Geneva, Basel or cities close to the borders, it's much more readily available.

i think the only reason why we have sushi here in Gstaad is because of the guests. that's why the price is so bloated, as is the case with everything around here and especially during the high season. but since i learned to make it myself at home, we've been eating a lot of it and i'm happy to say Reto likes it :)

remember those oysters we had with u guys when we were there 2 summers ago? he still shivers at the thought of them lol, and i salivate. can't wait to come to Canada this summer! i've promised myslef to pig out on sushi, oysters, and anything and everything that came out of the sea!!!

We've got a really good all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant here in Workland.
